With an aim to strengthen party at the grass root level Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked senior party leaders to open communication channels with district level leaders and workers and get the feedback as how to increase support for the party at the village level.
In a letter to party’s state president Nirmal Khatri, Congress president asked him to ensure 50 per cent reservation in the
organisation for the SC and backwards besides. “Get the feed back from the districts on different issues including how to improve party’s position at the state,” Sonia wrote in her letter. Sonia also asked the state president to give their views on how to raise funds so that it could help the poor and needy party workers at the time of their need.
Khatri said that he will get the feed back from the districts and submit the same by the end of February after discussing the matter with General secretary in-charge Madhusudan Mistri. The letter was a follow up to the group meeting addressed by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi iwhich was attended by around 250 individuals after lok Sabha debacle. “Now the party wants that the feed back should come from workers in the village,” Khatri said.
The issues to be discussed among the workers include ideology, organisation capability, accountability of leaders, discipline in the party, and importance of social media. Besides, feedback would be sought on the slogans of the party, he said. Meanwhile, Khatri has demanded action against senior officials of Badaun district in gang rape case. “Until government takes action against guilty law and order cannot be improved,” said Khatri.
He said that the Samajwadi Party government is always blamed for not appointing officials on Merit. “Action against District Magistrate and the Police chief of Badaun will certainly send a message that government is serious,” he said.
