At a time when the entire country is reeling under acute shortage of oxygen, Sonebhadra has become the first district of Uttar Pradesh to become self-sufficient in oxygen production.
Primary Education Minister and Sonbhadra district incharge Dr Satish Dwivedi announced on Saturday that after the  closed oxygen plant at Anpara was repaired and started functioning, the district became self-sufficient in oxygen production.
Dwivedi congratulated all public representatives, administrative officers and technical personnel of the district for helping in augmenting the closed plant at the earliest. He said that now Anpara oxygen plant was operational and 300 to 350 cylinders were being filled every day which were being supplied to not only Covid Hospitals and other government hospitals of the district but also all private hospitals in the vicinity.
“Not only this, Sonbhadra was able to provide oxygen to its neighboring districts when required. Besides, oxygen supply to 38 beds in district hospital was supplied through other means,” the UP minister said.
Dwivedi informed that Sector Magistrate has been appointed for hospitals of Sonbhadra so that Covid patients did not have to face any problem in getting admitted and treated in hospitals. “Besides more than 1500 teams of Asha Bahu and Anganwadi workers were running door-to-door campaigns in the district to check and aware people with symptoms of Covid,” he informed.
