Buoyed with the media reports that the Bharatiya Janta Party is coming to power, son of Party candidate in Shahjahenpur, and Party supporters brutally assaulted a lady sub-inspector and also threatened to get her removed from the job once the Party will come to power. local police had so far nabbed two of the supporters but not acted against the BJP leader’s son.
Reports said that a woman sub-inspector identified as Sushma Yadav, along with two constables were checking vehicles at Sadar Bazar crossing on Wednesday night. The trouble started after she stopped the Bolero Jeep, belonging to former MlA from Puwaya Assembly segment, Chetram, also contesting from the same seat on BJP ticket. Chetram’s son Neeraj, and other half a dozen supporters objected and challenged Sushma Yadav that she had to pay price with her job for daring to stop their vehicle for checking.
The matter took a violent turn when the cops asked Neeraj to come out of the vehicle and show papers. Just after this, Chetram’s son and his supporters came out with sticks in their hands and brutally assaulted Sushma Yadav and one of the constable Ajay Malik, who tried to save his senior colleague. later senior officers reached the spot and shifted the critically injured SI and Constable to district hospital.
Superintendent of Police in Shahjahenpur, Kamal Kishore said that they got a case registered in the matter and arrested three of the accused identified as Anuj, Abhisekh and Mukesh. Efforts were made to round up other accused who were absconding from their houses.
In one another incident in Meerut also reported on Wednesday evening, supporters of the same Party where going on a Swift Desire car (UP15CC-4609), when the local police signaled them to stop to check the vehicle. However, the driver sped up the vehicle and in the process hit a Scooty in which the occupant identified as Reetu, a resident of Rohta in Meerut was injured. The local police
somehow, intercepted the jeep and held the driver and took him to the police station. However, within few minutes, the activists of the youth brigade of BJP reportedly attacked the police station and managed to release their arrested colleague from cop’s custody. The local police registered a case in this regard also and was making efforts to nab the accused.
It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, candidate of BJP from Shahjahenpur Assembly seat, created ruckus and brutally assaulted a youth of another community alleging that the accused had teased his kin when she was going to school. In this case also, the cops find tough time to rescue the alleged `accused’. They took the BJP leader in custody and shifted him to police station. However district magistrate and district police chief reached police station and seeing that situation would take violent turn, they released the BJP candidate. On March 2 also, the same candidate of BJP and his supporters were allegedly involved in a violent agitation following which the local administration was forced to impose curfew. Interestingly, the local police had so far taken no action against senior BJP leaders who were said to be trying to disturb communal harmony.
