Once again raking up the issue of love jehad controversial BJP MlA Sangeet Som has given a call of mahapanchayat to discuss the issue when the state is going for a crucial by-elections on September 13.
BJP MlA Som, against whom the UP government had registered a case under NSA in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riots last year, has announced that the Maha-panchayat on love Jehhad will be held at Sardhana area of Meerut district.
Som is the BJP MlA from Sardhana assembly segment. Recently Som has been given Z- category security by the Centre over threat on his life from the terrorist organisations.
“The date of the maha-panchayat is not fixed but it would discuss the issue of love Jehhad along with cow slaughter and eve-teasing,” Som said.
.He said around one lakh people will attend the Maha-panchayat which will discuss in detail about the involvement of terrorist outfits in love Jehhad. “More than 400 people have informed me about eve-teasing and cow slaughter,” he said.
Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry said here on Monday that through this issue of love jehad the BJP was trying to divide the people on communal lines. This is being done to gain political mileage in this election, he said.
BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak however countered him saying that the Samajwadi Party was leveling false allegations because it has failed to control crimes.
“Samajwadi Party is making fake charges on BJP. Why there is communal violence in UP only when there is assembly elections too in Haryana, Maharashtra and other states. It is only the SP government’s failure which is creating communal tension in UP,” he said.
