Social activist presented a memorandum to Chief MinisterAkhilesh Yadav

Social activist Dr Nutan Thakur presented a memorandum to Chief MinisterAkhilesh Yadav at his Kalidas Marg residence on Sunday regarding arrest of protesters trying to self-immolate near CM residence.

The memorandum says that while from all media reports it is very apparent that these protesters got arrested by the police the moment they had poured petrol over themselves, later sections 309, 147, 332, 341 IPC and 3 and 4 of

Prevention of damage to public property Act 1984 was imposed on them. Sections 3 and 4 of the Public Property Act are non-bailable where bail can be granted only after hearing the prosecution side. Section 332 IPC  has a punishment of 3 years, 3 Public Property Act has punishment of 5 years while 4 Public Property Act has a punishment ranging between 1 to 10 years.

As per Dr Thakur, imposing these extremely stringent and false provisions of law on arrested youth only because they were demanding action against MlA of the ruling Samajwadi party named in a murder case is a direct infringement of Human Rights and is a clear example of police highhandedness.

Hence she has asked for open enquiry of the entire episode by an officer of Principal Secretary rank, immediate removal of the illegal and improper sections against the framed people and action against policemen if found so in the enquiry report.
