The special investigation team (SIT) probing the death of a girl in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya under mysterious circumstances in Mainpuri in 2019, will now conduct a narco-analysis test on UP minister and BJP MLA from Bhogaon (Mainpuri) Ram Naresh Agnihotri’s son Ankur Agnihotri to ascertain his complicity. Ankur had been earlier subjected to DNA test also along with 500 others.
A Special (POCSO) Court in Mainpuri granted permission for the test on Friday and the test will be conducted within a month. The class 11 girl student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Mainpuri was found dead on the campus on September 16, 2019. Her family had raised apprehensions of rape and relevant sections were added along with that for abetment to suicide. A case was lodged against the then Principal Sushma Sagar, Hostel Warden and two students. Later the principal was arrested and presented before a Mainpuri court in December 2021 and sent to jail.
In September last year, the Allahabad High Court had taken a serious view regarding the case as the three-member SIT set up to probe the case, remained inconclusive after which a second SIT was constituted. The Uttar Pradesh government had suspended three senior police officers after the High Court’s observation.
The SIT had visited the school where the girl was found dead and examined the FIR, preliminary probe, autopsy report, DNA test and forensic findings and polygraph tests in the case. Efforts to contact UP minister Ram Naresh Agnihotri proved futile but his son Ankur said that he was ready to take narco test because he had nothing to hide.
