Expediting the probe into Apple executive Vivek Tiwari murder, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by IG, Lucknow Range, Sujit Pandey, on Tuesday morning reconstructed the crime scene with the help of sole eyewitness and Tiwari’s former colleague Sana Khan.
Vivek was shot allegedly by constables Prashant Chaudhary and Sandeep Kumar in Gomti Nagar Extension while he was going to drop Sana home in Vinay Khand around 1:30 am on Saturday.
The probe team reached the crime scene to analyse the sequence of events leading to the murder. Besides Sana, victim’s wife Kalpana Tiwari also reached there. During the reconstruction of the crime scene, a vehicle similar to that of Tiwari’s was used and two bike-borne constables were asked to intercept it.
Later, one of them with a pistol was asked to aim at the vehicle. A cop was asked to act as Prashant Chaudhary and was given an empty gun to react to a provocation with a man sitting inside Mahindra XUV. The team also asked the driver to back down the vehicle to avoid an altercation and try to speed off.
“The aim was to reach a logical conclusion in the case and to cross-check the findings of the crime scene reconstruction with the statement of victim’s family and Sana,” Sujit said. The IG said that a team of forensic scientists also observed the reconstruction of the crime scene and noted down their observations which would go a long way in concluding the probe.
“The SIT is probing the case considering 72 different points. Some of the points include whether the SUV was stationary or moving, which way did the accused shoot the victim, how did the SUV suffer dents and how the cops’ bike was damaged,” Pandey said.
Meanwhile, SIT sources disclosed that the team asked Sana to narrate the exact position of the SUV on the fateful night. “She was asked which constables approached them while they were sitting inside the car. She was also asked what exactly happened after the bullet was fired at Vivek. She was asked if she alighted from the vehicle after the tiff and how did the airbags open,” they said.
The SIT members also examined the road stretch near Axis Bank on Maqdoompur police outpost road. An SIT official said that Sana was asked to pin-point the precise location of the murder scene and narrate the sequence of events. After she deposed, the team conducted a demo to cross-check her inputs.
The IG, Lucknow Range, said that autopsy reports and statements of witness/complaint would be examined. “The findings will then be used to corroborate the same in the court. It will also give clarity on the intention and motive involved in the murder,” said Pandey.
Explaining the presence of victim’s wife Kalpana at the crime scene, the IG said she was the complainant in the second FIR and that was why she was included in the reconstruction process.
The IG said that the SIT probe would take time to conclude. “The probe was conducted to collect scientific evidences to reach a logical end. It will be premature to say if the findings are against the cops,” Pandey said.
