Ashok Singh was re-elected the president of UP unit of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) unopposed on Saturday. The decision came after a high-level meeting convened to discuss the matter. Besides Singh, 80 members of the party were also elected to the national council in the meeting.

Singh, who will be the state unit chief for the third consecutive term, called upon the workers and leaders to get ready for the coming Assembly elections in UP. He said a new committee will also be set up soon and all those given responsibilities will have to dedicatedly work for the party.

In the 2012 Assembly polls in UP, the RJD had fielded candidates on only four seats and their deposits were forfeited in all these seats with the party’s vote percentage clocking less than 0.1 per cent.
