Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and criminals is yielding remarkable results in the prevention of heinous crimes.
A recent high-level meeting on law and order held in the state capital saw top officials of the Uttar Pradesh police presenting a comprehensive report covering the past eight months to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The report underscored a substantial decrease in grave crimes, including murder, robbery, dacoity and rape over the last six years in the state.
During the meeting, officials presented data regarding the top five districts that promptly addressed and curbed such cases, as well as the bottom five districts that showed poor performance. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a stern warning to officers from districts that fell short.
The chief minister said that if significant improvements were not evident in the next month’s review meeting, further measures would be taken.
Over the past eight months, there is a 9.02 per cent decline in murder cases across the state. However, some districts, including Mahoba, Shravasti, Sitapur, Jalaun, and Kaushambi, have witnessed an uptick in criminal incidents. In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials in these districts to take stringent measures to control the situation.
Regarding murder cases, districts like Chandauli, Auraiya, Lalitpur and Banda have displayed poor performance, prompting the chief minister to issue a stern warning to officers.
Similarly, the state has reported a decline of 24.61 per cent in robbery cases. But, some districts including Maharajganj, Lalitpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Balrampur and Kasganj, have shown an increase in robbery incidents. On the other hand, districts such as Firozabad, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur and Pilibhit have demonstrated prompt action in addressing robbery cases.
The meeting also disclosed in dacoity cases there has been a 16.22 per cent decline. However, districts such as Varanasi, Jhansi, Amethi, Auraiya and Kannauj have witnessed an increase in dacoity cases. Conversely, districts like Firozabad, Barabanki, Sitapur, Lalitpur and Kasganj have excelled in addressing dacoity cases, while Kannauj, Hathras, Badaun, Auraiya and Prayagraj Commissionerate require improvement in performance.
The meeting highlighted that 1,869 rape cases were registered, with charge sheets filed in 1,359 cases and final reports in 220 instances. Presently, 290 cases remain under investigation. Out of the 2,578 accused involved in these cases, action has been taken against 2,325, while 253 remain wanted.
Some districts, including Fatehgarh, Sitapur, Kheri, Kaushambi and Hamirpur, reported an increase in rape cases. Conversely, the top five districts that efficiently addressed rape cases include Badaun, Moradabad, Bijnor, Amroha and Sambhal. However, the performance of Prayagraj Commissionerate, Shahjahanpur, Balrampur, Kaushambi and Fatehpur in addressing rape cases was deemed inadequate.
The results of the meeting underscore the positive impact of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero tolerance policy on crime prevention in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities are determined to maintain and further improve law and order in the state, ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
