After the ‘satyagraha' by his party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to demand justice, now Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu sat on dharna-cum-silent fast until Union minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra’s arrest in connection with the Kheri violence.
Interestingly, soon after beginning his protest, Sidhu also announced to have taken ‘maun vrat' (silent fast) and refused to speak with the local authorities who tried to convince him to end the dharna.
Sidhu was also detained at the Saharanpur border on Thursday. He was accompanied by other ministers and MLAs on his way to Lakhimpur Kheri district. He was detained on Thursday and taken to Saharanpur where he sat on dharna, demanding that he be allowed to meet the family members of the victims.
On Friday, he was allowed to meet the family members in Lakhimpur Kheri but soon after giving them assurance of “justice” Sidhu sat on dharna.
