Sidharth seeks apology from Akhilesh for ‘lies’ about IT raids

Uttar Pradesh government spokesman and state minister Sidharth Nath Singh has demanded a public apology from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for the lies he has been telling the people about the recent income tax raids on people close to him.

"Akhilesh should also accept that his 'close confidants ' are tax evaders and he is also a partner," Singh said.

Speaking to media persons in Lucknow on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said, “Akhilesh has been also a participant as undeclared assets of Rs 400 crore were found in income tax raids. The income of Akhilesh Yadav and his family should also be investigated. The SP had made preparations to fund the elections with this illegal money but their plans could not be realised. The SP should make it clear as to what relations Akhilesh has with those people whose premises were raided.”

Singh further charged that Akhilesh Yadav was defending the tax evaders on the pretext of elections and trying to gain public sympathy in the name of raids.

“Loot, theft and corruption were always in the DNA of Samajwadi Party. This is being confirmed by the income tax raids and the recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.  Akhilesh Yadav made Noida a den of loot and corrupt practises. The CAG report has exposed the rigging to the tune of over Rs 58,000 crore in the allotment of land in Noida during SP regime,” he said.

The UP minister said that the CAG report exposed how corrupt officials played with public interests at the behest of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

"The people of Uttar Pradesh have come to know that the honest government is run in the manner the Yogi government has been running, " Singh claimed.
