Sidharth hits out at Priyanka, Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh government spokesman and cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh has slammed the opposition leaders for targeting the government over the spread of viral fever in certain districts of the state.

“This is the time for ‘so-called responsible’ leaders like Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of Congress to show compassion for those suffering from viral fever instead of shedding crocodile tears on Twitter,'' Singh said here on Saturday.

He said it was a matter of regret that these leaders were still sitting in their cosy drawing rooms and tweeting against the government while the state government was taking all measures to provide relief to its people.

“Akhilesh and Priyanka did the same during the second wave of COVID-19 and indulged in the same tactics by trying to negate the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath government,” Singh said.

He said these leaders could not see how the UP chief minister reached Firozabad promptly to oversee the health facilities and came on the ground to review the situation of the floods in eastern UP while leaders of both the opposition parties were seen doing only lip service and were absent during the hour of need.

Singh said the chief minister took some proactive measures by taking action against doctors including the chief medical officer for laxity in duty. He said senior officials of the government had been asked to camp in the district to keep an eye on the situation.

“There are clear instructions from the chief minister that there will be free treatment of dengue and other seasonal diseases, including viral fever, in government hospitals. For the prevention of these diseases, a massive campaign of cleaning and fogging is being run in the entire state,” he said.

The minister’s response came in the wake of tweets of Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who are constantly making attempts to put the state government in the dock for children suffering from the outbreak of viral fever in Firozabad and some other western districts of the state. He said the people of the state had seen such evil designs of the opposition and it was no surprise that they were dislodged from power.
