After being indicted by the lokayukt in Rs 1400 crore memorial stone scam, the senior BSP leader and leader of Opposition in the legislative Council Naseemuddin Siddiqui has hit back , claiming that when the legal status of lokayukt was under consideration before Supreme Court, there was no substance of his findings.
Siddiqui while reacting to the probe report of lokayukt submitted to the Chief Minister said that the extension of the tenure to the lokayukt awarded by SP Government soon after coming to power was illegitimate and several persons have challenged it and the issue was pending before Supreme Court.
"The Supreme Court has issued the notices to the lokayukt and the state government no the matter will come up for hearing before Supreme Court on July 4" Siddiqui said. "When the legality of the lokayukt is under question what was the relevance of his so called findings and conclusions" he added. Once his extension will declared null and void, all his rulings and findings during the extension period will come to a naught" Siddiqui observed.
