Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi has appointed Naseemuddin Siddiqui as chairman of media and communication department of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.
Siddiqui, a former minister in the Bahujan Samaj Party government, had joined the Congress in 2018. He had been arrested last month in connection with a 2016 case. He lost his membership from the UP Legislative Council under the anti-defection law after joining Congress.
Besides Siddiqui, former MLA Satish Ajmani has been appointed as treasurer of the UPCC.
