Shrikant: People tired of coalition politics

Bharatiya Janata Party has dismissed the support extended to the  Bahujan Samaj Party-Samajwadi Party alliance by Rashtriya Janata Dal as a non-event.

The BJP questioned the viability of the BSP-SP alliance and said the people were tired of coalition politics and they would wholeheartedly vote for a stable government.

“It is like ‘begani shadi mein Abdullah deewana’ (uninvited person getting excited over a thing not concerning him/her). All those who had looted the state exchequer are uniting and coming under one umbrella and patting the back of each other. Their agenda will never get the support of the people,” said UP government spokesman and Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma here on Monday.

Listing the achievements and series of welfare  schemes launched by the Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath governments, Sharma said,  “The BJP government is relentlessly working for the uplift of the common man... the chowkidar is maintaining high vigil and this has unnerved the opponents of the BJP and they are desperately trying to come on one platform.”

Replying to a question on the notice issued by the Supreme Court to the UP government over the fake police encounters, Sharma said the government respected the judiciary and would file its response in due course of time.

He, however, added that some publicity-hungry people were in the habit of filing public interest litigation and they were against the stern action being taken by the Yogi government to eliminate criminals and establish the rule of law.

Sharma said such PILs were being filed to malign the government and there would be no let up in the drive against crime and criminals to tone up law and order in the state.

The BJP leader said as many as three crore people had benefited from development schemes being run by the Modi government. He said the pro-people policies of the Modi government had unnerved the opposition parties and they were left with no issue to target the government.
