Shivpal Yadav used as `sacrificial goat': Maya

Published on:

In an apparent bid to drive a wedge first family of the ruling Samajwadi party  Bahujan Samaj Party chief  Mayawati  has said  Mulayam Singh Yadav used his  brother Shivpal Yadav  as `sacrificial goat’  to protect his son Akhilesh Yadav  in view of the imminent defeat of the party in 2017.

"Shivpal has been made SP state president by the party supremo Mulayam Singh to save son Akhliesh’s image after 2017 defeat, which is certain due to poor law and order situation in the state. This is a well-planned strategy of Mulayam to divert attention of people from his ‘putra moh’ (love for son),” Mayawati said.

"Now Shivpal has been made a sacrificial goat by brother Mulayam to establish Akhilesh’s supremacy in the party before the Assembly polls,” she said, adding this is evident from the fact that Akhilesh has been given the right to distribute party tickets.

"The entire family drama ended in such a way that it appeared it was scripted. The drama was enacted by Mulayam to show upper hand of Akhilesh. Meanwhile, a communal clash erupted in Bijnore but no one paid attention to it,” she said.

She alleged that the SP government has failed on all fronts and since “its defeat is imminent in the Assembly elections” due early next year.

On the reinduction of Gayatri Prajapati in the cabinet, Mayawati said a person who was mired in controversy due to corruption in the mining department will be taken back in the cabinet. This shows there is something fishy and “the deal” should be exposed.  ``Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav retaining the Public works department and not allotting it to  his uncle Shivpal Yadav also smacks of something fishy in the entire affair’’, she added.

Mayawati alleged that people of the state were yet to know why a minister, who was known for his corruption in the mining department was sacked and   why he is being re-inducted in the cabinet. ``Such action clearly proves that the ministers of the SP government are neck deep in corruption’ she said. The BSP president also said that the Ansari brothers were insulted by the SP family during the merger drama of Quami Ekta Dal in the SP.

BSP chief also   wondered over the silence of the BJP over the family feud in the Samajwadi party. `` The silence of the BJP suggests that both the SP and the BJP are hand in glove’’, she charged. Few days back, Mayawat had suggested Mulayam to retire from active politics after the dispute within the family broke out.

Meanwhile the state president of the Samajwadi party Shivpal Yadav rejected the charges levelled by the former chief minister Mayawati. "Samajwadi party is competent to manage its affair  and run the party and the government, it would be better for Mayawati  to look aft6er her own party and  her fate in 2017 state assembly elections."
