Shiv Sena spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut said in a press conference in Lucknow that his party would field 50-60 candidates in UP.
So far 20 candidates have been announced by Shiv Sena.
Raut said: "We do not have a tie-up with any party but we are making alliances with smaller parties. In the Lok Sabha elections, we will field our candidates on 15 to 20 seats."
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party government, he said that they first ask their officers to conduct raids on the houses of opposition leaders and then make the officers their candidates by giving them tickets in elections.
Raut said this in connection with former Enforcement Directorate officer Rajeshwar Singh fielded by the BJP from Sarojininagar assembly constituency.
Raut said, “Who can trust such an agency whose officer himself contests elections from BJP.”
Raut condemned the attack on All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi's convoy and said that tall claims were being made by the UP government of controlling crime but still crime incidents were happening.
