Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s grandson Vinamra Shastri joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal at a function on Monday.
Giving this information, RLD national spokesman Anupam Mishra said Vinamra Shastri joined the party in the presence of RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary.
Shastri is chairman of Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation for the last several years and has done several works for farmers, jawans and poor people. The Shastri Memorial Foundation has made people aware of the bravery of Indian soldiers honoured with Param Vir Chakra and other gallantry awards.
Welcoming Vinamra Shastri to the RLD fold, Jayant Chaudhary said former prime ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and Chaudhary Charan Singh were seen as role models in rural India. He praised Vinamra Shastri’s acumen in economics and said he would make special contributions to RLD in this field.
Mishra said that the RLD would launch a signature campaign in protest of hikes in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. He said it had become difficult for the common man to meet the expenses on their daily needs due to the hike prices of petroleum products. He said the signature campaign would kick off from Hanuman temple near Moti Mahal in Hazratganj on Tuesday.
