Reaffirming his commitment to ensuring self-reliance and empowerment of the youth, artisans and craftsmen, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, said that the state government would continue to provide recognition to the talent of the youth and utilise their energy and skills towards strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s economy.

“Through skill mapping, the government will provide employment to at least one member of every family in the state,” the chief minister said in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.

Distributing appointment letters to trainees under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission and government ITIs while inaugurating a grand Rojgar Mela, the chief minister said that the sharp fall in the unemployment rate in the state testified the government’s vision of empowering the youth.

He said the government would continue to implement youth-centric welfare schemes and would efficiently conduct all ongoing programmes to provide recognition to their talent and utilise their skills and energy towards building the “new Uttar Pradesh of the New India”.

The chief minister added that the Rojgar Melas were contributing effectively towards the government’s aim of providing job opportunities to the youth as per their capabilities. “Today, about 136 well-reputed companies are here to offer employment to the youth of Gorakhpur and other districts of eastern UP,” he said.

Maintaining that the Uttar Pradesh government in the last five years had worked under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to benefit the youth and local artisans and craftsmen, Yogi said that various programmes such as Skill India, PM Startup, PM Standup, Make In India as well as schemes like PM Mudra had given massive encouragement to the youth.

“The state government has also benefited youth and craftsmen through Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana and One District, One Product (ODOP) schemes, among others,” he said.

Highlighting his government’s achievements, the chief minister said that in the last five years, five lakh youth had been given government jobs in the state, while about 1.61 crore youths were given job opportunities through various micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) units. Similarly, he said, about 60 lakh craftsmen, artisans were also connected with banks in a way to ensure their self-employment.

“Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the influx of about 40 lakh migrant workers and labourers, the unemployment rate has sharply fallen in the state,” said Yogi.

Expressing gratitude to the youth in the state for showing faith in the Bharatiya Janata Party government, the chief minister said that the double-engine governments would give pace to the ongoing schemes for the youth and would ensure that maximum people benefitted from them.

“One of our first decisions after retaining power in the state was to create about 20 lakh job opportunities for the youth through investment proposals of Rs 80,000 crore,” Yogi said.

He further said that recently, a massive loan fair was also organised through which about 1.9 lakh beneficiaries, including handicraft artisans and entrepreneurs, were given loans successfully.

Stating that there was an increasing need for implementing innovative measures to suit the demands of every sector, the chief minister said: “We must understand the growth of every sector, do research, analyse local needs and accordingly take measures to improve the sectors and make our youth more employable.”

The chief minister advised officials to utilise innovation like the usage of drones prepared by the youth to make agricultural practices such as using pesticides, and insecticides for the farmers smooth and simultaneously give recognition to the talent of the youth.

Talking about the CM Fellowship Programme, Yogi said that the state had identified 100 aspirational blocks for which young researchers would be appointed.

Under the scheme, selected researchers' zeal, their enthusiasm for technology and their fresh perspective will benefit the implementation of various schemes in the aspirational districts, as well as help form schemes according to future requirements.

Yogi reiterated that his government would soon start mapping each family in the state to connect one member of each household with job or self-employment.
