Blaming the state government for backwardness of UP, Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah said that development in the state was lagging because the Akhilesh Yadav government is reluctant to implement Central government’s schemes.

Addressing booth-level workers from 11 districts of Gorakhpur region in at Kisan PG College Basti on Friday, Shah said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been elected from Varanasi - the cultural hub of the state. He is keen to develop UP but the SP government is not supporting the Centre in the development of the state.”

Shah said that in the coming Assembly polls, the BJP will form a government with full majority. “Only then the Central projects will be implemented with sincerity,” he said.

Addressing workers from Basti, Balia, Mau, Azamgarh, Deoria, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur City, Maharajganj, Sidhharth Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, the BJP leader said that the party had won 73 seats out of 80 in the last lok Sabha polls which was possible only because of the hard work of its workers.

“Now booth level workers should work in their areas with sincerity so that victory of the BJP is ensured in the next Assembly polls,” Shah said. He added, “If the BJP has a majority government at the Centre it is only because of UP.” The top BJP leader said that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is asking what has the Union government done in the last two years. “I want to tell him that the BJP government has linked 17 crore families with banks while another five crore new lPG connections were distributed among poor families. Besides, loans of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 10 lakh distributed to unemployed youths through Mudra Bank Scheme of Union government. To improve power supply in UP, the Centre has allotted Rs 40,000 crore,” he said.

Targeting the SP government, Shah said that the state government has failed in every aspect. “There is mafia-raj in UP and total break down of law and order. The BJP must come to power to make the state free from mafia and criminals,” he asserted.

Amit Shah also held SP responsible for the Kairana exodus and Mathura violence. He said that Gorakhpur region is the holy place of Guru Gorkhnath, Vashishth Muni, Sant Kabir and the first message of change should be spread from here. Shah would be holding similar meet with booth presidents of Kashi region in Jaunpur on Saturday after attending a Janadhikar Rally in Varanasi called by Apna Dal MP, Anupriya Patel.
