Asking people to bring the BJP back to power in the state, BJP president Amit Shah said that the regimes of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party were responsible for the exodus of youth from eastern UP as they did nothing for the development of the area.

“Time has come for these parties to clearly say what they have done for eastern UP. The party of ‘chacha-bhatija’ is busy in the family feud while Mayawati has looted the state exchequer in the name of Dalit upliftment. left with no other viable alternative to earn their livelihood, young people have left their village homes,” Shah said while addressing Parivartan Rally in Azamgarh on Thursday.

The BJP chief said that if the people of Azamgarh make up their minds to oust the Samajwadi Party, then half of the problem of eastern UP will be solved. Incidentally, Azamgarh is the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Talking about demonetisation of high value notes, the BJP chief said that the decision has set a deluge in favour of the party forcing the Opposition leaders to unite.

“The demonetisation drive has created a `aandhi’ in favour of the BJP. While the poor are applauding it, the corrupt are looking for cover,” he said adding: “The Opposition parties who used to criticise each other are now united against Modi just to save their skin.”

“People want to know from these Opposition leaders as to why they are so worried when they themselves claim that corruption, terrorism and black money should be weeded out of the society,” Shah asked.

Admitting that people are facing hardships while standing in queues to get their money from bank or post offices, the BJP chief said: “We are also concerned about them but for a bigger cause such things have to be withstood. Everything would be normal very soon.”

Besides, Shah said that demonetisation has hit terrorists and their supporters in the country and Pakistan, which has been pushing counterfeit currencies into India have been given a befitting reply.

Criticising the Opposition for shedding crocodile tears over the miseries of farmers after November 8, Shah said that the Narendra Modi government has given all benefits to farmers and now they can withdraw Rs 25,000 for purchase of seeds and fertilizers.

Hitting out at Mayawati and Samajwadi Party leaders, the BJP chief said: “Their ash-laden faces speak the whole story. They are making hue and cry because their stashed money has been reduced to trash.”

Attacking the SP government, Shah said that the Modi government had sent Rs one lakh crore for the past two years to UttarPradesh but no development took place. “The money was siphoned off by the SP leaders, mafias and the contractors for building their own houses and to stock the money,” he alleged.

Asking people to support BJP so that the picture of UP could be transformed as desired by Narendra Modi, who is a lok Sabha member from nearby Varanasi,  Shah said that only a majority government can change the situation in the state.

The Rally was also addressed by state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath.
