Uttar Pradesh has become a desired destination for the Centre as it has decided to launch several IT schemes which will not only generate jobs but also enhance IT exports. The state is set to get 8400 seats in BPO besides 100 of the government district hospitals will be connected with e-hospitals.

A meeting to this effect was held between Union Information Technology (IT) minister Ravishanker Prasad and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth in lucknow on Tuesday.

Briefing reporters at a joint press conference in lucknow, Ravishanker Prasad said that the digital progress of the country goes through UP and hence the state was the most desired destination for the Centre.

“The Centre has decided to set up BPO at smaller cities and hence of the total 48,000 seats in the country, 8400 has been given to UP. Of this, around 1900 seats have been allotted so far through tendering in UP. Cities like Ghazipur, Unnao, Bareilly, Allahabad and lucknow have got new BPO centres,” Prasad said.

“As the Chief Minister is committed to development of Bundelkhand region, he has reserved 1500 BPO seats for the backward region. The BPOs would be set up at Chatrakoot and Jhansi, while another 1500 seats would be given to the cities of eastern UP,” the Union minister said.

Prasad also announced that in Varanasi - the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the internationally acclaimed Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) would be setting up a 1000 seat BPO which will give priority to women. The Union Minister said that state-run hospitals will be transformed following digital intervention as within the next six months, 100 district hospitals of UP would be connected by e-hospital where patients will get benefits of telemedicine. “The UP government will provide computers and other infrastructures while the Centre will provide the required training for the purpose,” he said.

Admitting that the previous Akhilesh Yadav regime was not cooperative with the Modi government at the Centre for setting up of a IT hub in the state, Prasad said that during the past thee years of BJP rule in Delhi, 32 mobile companies have set up their units in Noida and Greater Noida.

The Union minister also announced that Samsung Mobile will launch its new unit at Noida on Wednesday which will produce 10 crore mobiles in a year.

Yogi Adityanath in his address said that the new industrial policy of the state would be announced the day his government completed 100 days in office.

“We are much interested in attracting big investments in UP so that people get jobs,” he said ruling out Opposition charges that  law and order situation was not good in UP.

“Rule of law prevails in the state and you cannot expect any good from the Opposition which had allowed the rot to set in in its 15-year regime,” he said.
