When the entire nation was celebrating International Women's Day and organising programmes to honour the females, a senior office-bearer of the minority cell of Uttar Pradesh Congress openly humiliated a woman leader here on Monday.
The woman leader is also a leading social activist of the city.
The leader forced the senior female colleague to step down from the dais during a programme organised by UP Congress Committee minority cell to felicitate some women for their work on Monday morning.
Surprisingly, the insult to the woman leader was made in the Congress when Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is in-charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh and the programme was being held on UPCC campus and party state president Ajay Kumar Lallu was also there.
Upset with the humiliation, that too during Women's Day function, the leader, who also went to jail during the anti-CAA protest in the state, reportedly made a complaint to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and sought action.
The party claimed to have felicitated 100 working women in the function.
Meanwhile, when Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is leaving no stone unturned in Uttar Pradesh to revive the party before the 2022 assembly polls, the decision of the party's state unit has confused the rank and file leading to bickering among the leaders of  the Lucknow City Congress.
Congress appointed Lucknow city president Mukesh Singh Chauhan on December 24, 2019, who led or coordinated all the party activities during the lockdown period. However, the bickering started when Lallu first appointed Ajay Srivastava `Ajju' and later Dilpreet Singh as president of Lucknow (North) and Lucknow (South) respectively.
After posting Dilpreet, the UPCC issued a press release claiming that posting of Dilpreet was made against Mukesh, after removing the latter. However, confusion arose that besides Lucknow North and South, who would lead the party in the rest part of the city as Mukesh was incharge of the whole city.
Though no official clarification has been issued so far but some senior leaders claim that soon three more presidents, one each for Lucknow East, West and Central, will be announced.
A senior party leader here on Monday said that such confusion would demoralise the  leaders who had put all their power to strengthen the party.
"Mukesh Singh Chauhan is a born Congressman and was corporator of Lucknow. But his sudden removal without any reason has confused the rank and file in the capital city," another leader commented, adding that when the assembly elections were less than a year away, such experiments by the senior leaders would only dent the fortune of the party which was already gasping for survival in this biggest state of the country.
