Earlier, in a shocking remark, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan said that the excesses of the Army in Jammu and Kashmir and other sensitive areas forced women to chop off the private parts of soldiers in revenge.
“Soldiers have been beaten by women in Kashmir, Jharkhand and Assam and their private parts were also chopped off. India’s truth is that women are forced to act against Army rapists. It is a message that Hindustan should be ashamed of,” Khan, notorious for his controversial remarks, had said at a party meeting in Rampur. The remarks of Azam Khan triggered nationwide outrage.
In Sambhal, workers of the Hindu Jagran Manch torched Khans effigy and demanded that he be tried for treason. Similar protests were reported from Chandausi, Jaunpur, Mathura and lakhimpur Kheri.
However, Khan downplayed that his comments affected the Indian Army’s morale and said, “My statement was misconstrued by media. How can army’s morale fall because of meIJ I am nobody. Army’s morale fell when Prime Minister Modi went to Pakistan.”
Political parties have condemned the statement of the Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan and demanded action against the SP leader for spitting venom on the Indian army to malign and demoralise the army jawans fighting relentless battle against the cross border terrorism.
