Elaborate security measures have been taken to ensure peaceful conduction of Budget Session of the State Assembly beginning with Governor Ram Naik’s address on Friday. State government had planned both internal as well as external security plan so that no untoward incident would take place.
In a high-level meeting attended by principal secretary (Home) Dewasheesh Panda, director general (security) Gopal Gupta, along with other senior officers here on Friday afternoon, a decision was taken to minimise the passes issued to guests and media persons. All the visitors would be frisked before making entry inside the Assembly. Besides, even when the House is in progress, surprise checking of persons sitting in the visitors and press galaries would be made.
Special step has been also taken to install flourscent lights on the floor of the House to make safe exit in case of any emergency. “We will make all the legislators aware that in case of any emergency, which door they had to take for safe and proper exit from the House”, disclosed Gopta Gupta while revealing the plan. Besides, taking lesson from the lift incident in which chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was tucked inside along with his wife Dimple Yadav, now during the entire session, two liftmen, one inside and one outside will be deployed in all the 28 lifts so that necessary steps could be taken in case of any emergency.
Sources said that MlAs will be allowed entry inside Vidhan Bhawan campus just on one vehicle and entry of others vehicles of their cavalcade will be prohibited till the House is in progress. Besides the above, all other security measures like restricting carrying of arms and ammunitions inside, checking entry of any unauthorised person, etc will be taken. Sleuths of the Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) and Special Task Force (STF) will be also put into action to thwart any kind of subversive activities.
