Security has been beefed up in Ayodhya district after an anonymous call on the emergency number 112 threatened to carry out a series of blasts in Ayodhya city and trigger a blast at the under construction Ram temple.
The local police are already on alert in the temple town due to the anniversary of demolition of the disputed structure on December 6.
Confirming the threat call, a senior Ayodhya district police officer said that the caller was identified as a youth from Gujarat's Ahmedabad and efforts were on to trace his identity.
A senior officer in Dial-112, however, denied having received any call claiming that security was beefed up only due to the anniversary of demolition of Babri Mosque on December 6.
Soon after receiving the call, security deployment in Ayodhya, especially on all strategic points across the city, was reviewed by top officials and necessary measures were being taken to prevent any untoward incident.
“We reviewed the security arrangements after an unknown caller on Thursday afternoon called the emergency service number 112 and threatened to carry out a series of blasts in Ram Janmabhoomi Ayodhya. Security has been beefed up at all entry and exit points of Ayodhya district. Additional forces have been deployed at railway and bus stations. The local police have been directed to keep an eye on all visitors staying in hotels and dharamsala in the district and carry out search operations in hotels. Besides, all vehicles entering the city are being thoroughly checked by the police. Bomb squads and dog squads have been kept on high alert," disclosed a top police officer at DGP Headquarters in Lucknow.
The police officer further added that Black Cat commandos had taken positions in Ram Janmabhoomi Complex to prevent any untoward incident. The Ayodhya police along with Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) carried out a route march in the Yellow Zone and the senior superintendent of police of Ayodhya is monitoring all security arrangements across the city.
