The detained VHP activists were arrested for violating prohibitory orders and disturbing communal harmony and peace in the city on the opening day of the 84-Kosi Parikarma.
District police had produced 15 VHP activists who were charged of violating prohibitory orders, before the SDM with a plea for judicial custody, but Yadav turned down the plea and released them when the DM and SSP were busy in controlling the law and order situation, official said.
