SBSP maha rally tomorrow

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief and Cabinet minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Uttar Pradesh, Om Prakash Rajbhar, will hold a ‘maha rally’ in Lucknow on coming Saturday to press for his party’s demand for quota within quota for most backward and most Dalit communities in the existing reservations.

The issue of quota within quota was raised by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Assembly a few months back.

“We have already met BJP chief Amit Shah as well as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath several times in the past and demanded three per cent quota each for most backwards and most Dalits within the 27 per cent reservation. But as no concrete steps have been initiated, my party will raise the demand in the Lucknow maha rally,” Rajbhar said.

“The rally will be held at Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan on the occasion of 16th foundation day of SBSP,” he said.

State Backward Classes Welfare and Handicapped Development Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar is known for creating embarrassment for the Yogi government intermittently.

He had earlier warned of launching an agitation if the BJP did not implement reservation within reservation policy, earmarking quota for most backward castes within the OBC quota, by October.

Defending his stand, Rajbhar said, “I call a spade, a spade. I am a straightforward person whether anyone likes it or not. I am accountable to my community which has made me a leader.”

On taking on the BJP with statements and now a rally, Rajbhar said that he would keep on raising his demand to force the BJP to accept them. “Another important issue that would be raised in Saturday’s rally will be complete prohibition in Uttar Pradesh like in Gujarat and Bihar,” he said.
