A Bahujan Samaj Party delegation led by its general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in lucknow on Monday to protest the undue harassment of party cadres and Dalits in the name of action against those involved in violence during ‘Bharat Bandh’ on April 2.

Mishra, along with BSP legislative Party leader lalji Verma and state chief Ram Achal Rabhar met Yogi and handed over a memorandum in this regard. They claimed that the Bandh was called to protest against weakening of laws against harassment of Dalits and after finding it succeeded, some anti-social elements indulged in violence to defame the community and create caste conflict.

They claimed that BSP chief Mayawati had condemned those engaged in violence and advocated stern action against the guilty, the same evening.

Mishra said that in the name of action against trouble makers, the government machinery was not only arresting BSP workers and leaders accusing them of instigating violence but the machinery was also engaged in orchestrating murders of BSP leaders and ransacking their houses and establishments.

The BSP delegation appealed to the Chief Minister that he intervene and ensure that the innocents should not be punished and those arrested should be fred on bail.
