What is being seen as the beginning of the change in party organisation and steps to increase coordination between the party and the government, Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh and national vice president and state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh held meetings with ministers and senior party leaders on Monday. Later, the two leaders along with state organisation secretary Sunil Bansal met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his official residence. BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh also attended the meeting. Both deputy Chief Ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya will have a one-to-one meeting with the leaders on Tuesday.

The two senior leaders – Santosh and Singh – who are on a two-day visit, met over a dozen ministers, all of cabinet rank, and enquired about the working of the government and how to improve coordination between the party and the government.

“The leaders asked in detail about the working of the government and its image among the masses and how to improve it,” a cabinet rank minister said.

Another minister said that the whole exercise was carried out keeping in mind the forthcoming assembly elections.

Party's state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla said that the two national leaders reviewed and chalked out a strategy for the party's election campaign. They also reviewed the ongoing ‘Sewa Hi Sangathan’ campaign of the party and also advised how the party could help the people during COVID-19 pandemic.

“The leaders also suggested that the ‘Sewa Hi Sangathan’ campaign should be further extended with an eye on the third wave of COVID-19. Teams of men and women should be formed at the booth level to educate villagers about vaccination and other Covid protocols,” Shukla said.
