Not satisfied with the attitude of the police in the abduction and murder case of their son, the family of lab technician Sanjeet Yadav met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday.

During the meeting, which went on for about half-an-hour, the parents and sister of Sanjeet Yadav told the former chief minister about the negative attitude of the Kanpur Nagar police and urged him to help them in getting justice.

Akhilesh Yadav expressed sympathy with the family and assured them of providing every possible help from the party’s side. He also gave a cheque of Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance to the family. Earlier too, the SP had given Rs 5 lakh assistance to Sanjeet’s family.

SP state president Naresh Uttam Patel and former minister Rajendra Chaudhary was also present during the meeting which took place in the SP office.

Lab technician Sanjeet Yadav was abducted and murdered by his friends on June 22. His body was thrown in the Pandu river and has yet not been recovered. Police arrested two of the deceased’s friends in connection with the case.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured the family of a CBI probe but there has been no progress in this matter so far.

The family has staged protests many times earlier and had also made attempt to come to Lucknow to meet the chief minister but the police somehow pacified and stopped them.

The family has demanded that Sanjeet’s sister be given a government job and the CBI should start investigation into the case as soon as possible.
