The ruling Samajwadi Party slammed the BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party for attacking the dignity of women in their war of slander. The SP said that by their conduct both parties were creating social tension and threatening social harmony in the state.

The SP targeted the BSP chief saying that Mayawati has no right to adopt a moral high ground over objectionable comment by the BJP leader, as she has always targeted her political rivals in foul language vitiating levels of political discourse in state politics.

The SP said that the battle between two parties has created a new crisis and challenge for democracy and the agenda of public discourse has touched a new low. The SP alleged that both parties in their no-holds-barred battle ignored the traditions of dignity of public life. .

SP spokesman and minister Rajendra Chaudhary said on Friday that that it was most unfortunate to see that both the parties claiming to be 'ideology-based' have nothing but filthy and abusive language to attack each other. He stressed that the SP has always respected the dignity of women which ha hardly been the agenda of the BJP and the BSP.

Chaudhary targeted the BSP saying, ``The BSP never believed in practice of dignity in public life and its history is replete with incidents of anarchy and slogans in filthy language.’’ Condemning the intemperate language used by BSP leaders against women, the SP leader said, "The BSP tried to create havoc over one unparliamentarily comment by a BJP leader, but the top BSP leaders ended up doing the same thing duringtheir protest on Thursday. Besdies, the BSP chief hasbeen doing so all her life.’’

Chaudhary also trained his guns at the BJP charging it of attacking democratic conventions and public dignity.

"Ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, there has been a long list of leaders who have given provocative statements threatening public order and social harmony. Spreading rumors and creating disorder is an old tactics of the BJP," he said.

Chaudhary pointed out that the national BJP chief during his visits to UP tried to vitiate the atmosphere by using intemperate language against SP leaders by levelling false allegations.
