Samajwadi Party claims about a fearless society and improvement in law and order.

Seeking to corner the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party government, Samajwadi Party punched holes in the government claim about a fearless society and improvement in law and order.

Speaking on the debate over the motion of thanks to the joint  address by Governor, leader of Opposition and Samajwadi Party leader Ram Govind Chaudhary said that the government claims on improvement of law and order were false, misleading   and figures were fudged.

“The government claim that criminals have either been killed, were in jail or had fled the state and a sharp increase in all categories of crimes in the last one year of BJP rule are just blatantly contradictory. In lucknow and neighboring districts there were over 80 incidents of heinous crimes where Dalits, OBCs and Muslims were targeted. This government is the enemy of the poor and the downtrodden,’’ said Chaudhary.

The SP leader alleged that to suppress the crime rate, FIRs were not lodged by the police and in a large number of cases, reports were lodged after the aggrieved parties obtained orders from the courts.

Accusing that the BJP government has unleashed a reign of terror against Muslims, opposition leaders said that the BJP has devised a new technique of organizing ‘Tiranga Yatra’.

“What explains the sudden love for Tiranga by the BJP as in the last three decades, we never heard of  the BJP ever taking out such yatras as the party never had respect for the tricolor,’’ said Chaudhary.

“In Kasganj, Tiranga Yatra was organized by the local BJP unit only to trigger communal riot and terrorise Muslims as they were forced to chant Vande Matram or go to Pakistan. Commercial establishments and houses of Muslims were torched and looted during the Yatra and Muslims were prevented from hoisting the national flag on Republic day,’’ charged the leader of Opposition. Chaudhary alleged that farmers were taken for a ride by the government in the name of loan waiver scheme. He said that the government had announced that it had made provision of Rs 36,000 crore in the budget for the scheme but the actual expenditure so far has been hardly Rs 15,000 crore. The SP leader said that the BJP poll manifesto in 2017 had promised that all farmers will be covered by the scheme but only small and marginal farmers were given the benefit.

Chaudhary said that the Yogi government was facing serious credibility crisis as senior ministers have levelled serious charges against the government. He said that one ministers said that the police was killing innocent people in fake encounters while another alleged a scam of Rs 500 crore in education department while another said that corruption has increased by ten times ever since the BJP came to power. “Are these ministers lying and making false statementsIJ If they are truthful then how come they are still members of the cabinetIJ They should either be asked to explain their conduct or be dismissed from the government for defying the principle of collective responsibility of the cabinet system of government,’’ said the leader of Opposition. The motion of thanks was later adopted by the House where the BJP enjoys brute majority with 325 members out of a total of 403. In the debate, 22 members from the Treasury benches and 15 from the opposition participated.
