Saifai Mahotsav: BJP, Cong slam SP

Published on:

The opposition parties including Congress and BJP have criticized the Samajwadi party for organising Saifai Mahotsava from public money when the state was reeling under a financial crisis.

BJP spokesman Dr Chandra Mohan said that when the state is craving for development it does not look prudent for the Government to organise Saifai mahotsava by spending government money. "This year the samajwadi party and the government should have scaled down saifai mahotsava celebration," he said.Congress spokesman Amarnath Yadav said that this year’s Saifai celebration was nothing but a wastage of money. "Better sense should prevail on the Government and the money it is spending on Mahotsava should be used in development projects," he said.

Muslim cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, founder of Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), too said that indulgence in extravagance at Saifai Mahastov when children and others in Muzaffarnagar riot relief camps are suffering proves the inefficiency of the government. Khan said the state government should have shown its interest in providing relief to the riot-hit people rather than putting its effort in holding Saifai Mahastov and spending public money on dance and music
