Excesses by men in saffron continued unabated in lakhimpur Kheri. On Tuesday night, some inebriated saffron leaders camee to blows with some youths after which one of them was taken to the Kotwali police station. However, the saffron party goons attacked the police station and not just freed the accused but also took away a motorcycle.
Surprisingly the Kotwali police station in-charge was so upset with the unruly behaviour of ruling party goons that he reportedly told the district police chief that he could not work under these circumstances.
But instead of initiating action against the fringe elements, the SP Kheri preferred to change the SHO and posted him in another police station late Tuesday night.
Interestingly, the Kheri police also concealed the information about BJP’s excesses and refused to give any details.
This is fourth time that local leaders owing allegiance to ruling BJP and its frontal outfits have created scenes. Besides forcing police to impose curfew during a clash last month, they have assaulted youths charging them of eve-teasing.
Three days back, saffron leaders forced business establishments to close down after demanding that clash accused be booked under National Security Act.
