Ridiculing BSP president Mayawati for appointing her brother Anand Kumar as the party’s vice-president and heir apparent and expressing willingness to join hands with other parties for taking on the BJP, the saffron party accused her of promoting corruption and nepotism.
“Mayawati’s decisions will certainly end her political career. Taking a detour from her earlier stand that she would not allow her family members to join the party, only proves her weakness and nepotism,” said BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak in lucknow on Friday.
Pathak said that giving political patronage to Kumar, against whom ED, IT and CBI have initiated probes of financial embezzlement will not save a corrupt person.
“Mayawati was now left alone after her party’s debacle in the Assembly polls. Offering to join hands with other parties will serve no purpose for the BSP and in the 2019 lok Sabha elections she will face another ignominious electoral rout,” the BJP leader said.
Pathak leader said that the decision of all Opposition parties to join hands before 2019 lok Sabha polls shows that they have conceded defeat and were now looking for avenues to salvage their pride.
“This is a fact that people still love Prime Minister Narendra Modi because there is no corruption charge against him,” he said.
Meanwhile at a function at BJP headquarters, leaders paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar. BJP state president and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the party as well as the government will fulfill the dreams of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
“Our government is pro-poor and will ensure that members of deprived sections get justice,” Maurya said.
