After the death of Mahant Narendra Giri under suspicious circumstances, now a sadhu has also died in Ayodhya.

The sadhu allegedly died on the spot after he fell from the third floor of the Shree Ram Mantratha Mandapam temple situated on the parikrama route in Naya Ghat police outpost area of Ayodhya Kotwali, on Wednesday morning.

The sadhu has been identified as Maniram Das. Information regarding whether the sadhu has committed suicide or this is an accident is not available at the moment. The police have taken possession of the sadhu's body and sent it for post-mortem. The police are probing the case from every aspect.

In the preliminary investigation, it has been found that the sadhu was in depression for a long time. However, the reason for his depression is not known. Maniram Das was living in the temple for about 20 years.

At present, the police are interrogating the temple administration and other sadhus. Along with this, the phone records of the victim are also being scanned.

Meanwhile, in a sensational broad daylight incident, a 25-year-old woman suffered severe burn injuries following an acid attack by two youths riding a motorcycle.

The woman was at her toy shop at Lajpat Nagar in Jalaun on Tuesday, when the youths, who wore masks to cover their faces, threw acid on her and fled.

Akansha Saini, the victim, was first rushed to a primary health centre from where she was referred to the Orai medical college hospital.

Jalaun’s Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar said the condition of the woman was stated to be stable.

The SP said the incident was recorded by a CCTV camera and the police were probing the case. The family members of the victim have not yet filed any complaint in this connection, he added.

The neighbours of the victim claimed that the family members were already living in fear and now after Tuesday's incident they were scared that the accused might eliminate Akansha if they lodged a report against them.

The accused is said to have threatened the woman several times earlier after she objected to their advances and finally on Tuesday they attacked her with acid and escaped.

In a separate incident reported from Rashidabad village of Farrukhabad district, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man who lives in the neighbourhood.

The police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's family but the accused is absconding at present.

Meanwhile, the little girl has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Reports said that the girl was playing outside her home on Tuesday when the man, who is a distant relative, picked her up and took her to a field where he allegedly raped her. When the girl did not come back inside her house for a long time, her mother began searching for her and found her hurt and crying in the field. The girl was rushed to the hospital.

"We are trying to locate and arrest the absconding accused. A case was registered and the police reached the site of the incident after the complaint was filed by the victim's family members," said Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena.
