Inmates of the Juvenile Observation Home in Meerut once again created ruckus, reportedly after the authorities take measures to check entry of narcotics and other sedatives inside the premises after reports of under-trials taking drugs.

Interestingly, the inmates tried to justify their action claiming that the Home administration is not providing them foods according to their ongoing fasts during Navratri and were also demanding money to have eatables and meet their family members. Senior superintendent of police in Meerut, Subash Baghel, who visited the home to pacify the inmates and to call of their stir, had reportedly recommended a magisterial probe into the entire incident.

Reports said that inmates of the Juvenile Observation Home in Meerut, went on rampage and started a stir against the local administrative officers on Sunday evening. They alleged that the security at gate is not allowing them to meet their family members and were also demanding money when any of their kin wanted to give them eatables and other necessary items. They demanded that the officials should be immediately replaced and action should be also taken for in-human behaviour of the local officers.

Reports further said that finding the matter going out of control, the Home authorities informed the local cops after which a heavy police force along with SSP Meerut, SS Baghel reached the spot to defuse the tense situations. However, during primarily probe by Baghel, it was revealed that the inmates as usual making unwanted trouble and they were just agitated as the Home authorities had installed Cloce Circuit Televisions (CCTVs)to check entry of drugs to which the inmates had almost turned habitual. Baghel, learnt that since the administration had tightened the security and were not allowing the inmates to have drugs, hence they turned violent and making unlawful demands. After primarily enquiry, Baghel, not just tightened the security arrangements so that no once could create trouble but also recommended to conduct a magisterial probe into the matter so legal proceedings could be made against the inmates who had taken law in their hands.

Earlier in December last, the inmates of the same Observation Home in Meerut, launched a violent attack against the cops who tried to check drugs supply to them. They not just attacked the cops with sticks and rods in which several cops were injured but also reportedly opened fire in which one the policeman was killed. In August and September last year also, the cops were attacked by the same inmates. The cops were so scared after this incident that the than SSP of Meerut, Onkar Singh, had sent a proposal to the government to shift all the inmates who completed 18-years of age to District Jail, otherwise any kind of mishappening could be reported. However, no action was taken by the government in wake of inmates covered under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Not only this, on Februrary 2 last month, 91 of the total 143 inmates of the same Observation Home escaped under mysterious circumstances. Shocked with the happening, state government ordered a magistratial probe besides suspending two policemen along with 2 home guards who were on guard duty at the home on that fateful night. District magistrate on Meerut, Pankaj Yadav told media persons that time that the inmates fled from the Home by playing loud the music system. He said that they cut the window grill of the kitchen at first floor, than made a rope by tying some bed-sheets and came down with it’s help to fled from the home.
