RLD targets BJP on nationalism

Lambasting the BJP for propagating a debate on nationalism, state Rashtriya Lok Dal president Masood Ahmad said that the ruling party had put up a facade of being a nationalist, dumping its much-touted poll plank of development.

“The BJP has dropped the issue of development now as it leaders know that they stand exposed in the public for making hollow promises. Now the same BJP leaders debate about nationalism and pose themselves to be patriotic in the truest sense. During the last five years, several of our soldiers were killed while those heading the government kept touring countries across the world squandering public money. Then they never spared a thought for patriotism and now that their ploys have failed, they are vocal on this issue,” Masood said without naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Masood said that the performance of BJP’s five-year government at the Centre was that it did not implement any of its announcements mentioned in its manifesto.

“The BJP failed to get Ram temple in Ayodhya constructed, cleaning of Ganga under Nirmal Ganga Project, 2 crore jobs for unemployed, bringing black money stashed in foreign countries in 100 days and giving Rs 15 lakh to each citizen etc. All announcements of the BJP proved to be mirage for the countrymen. Now anticipating the party’s defeat at the hand of contestants of SP, BSP and RLD, BJP leaders are hiding behind nationalism,” Massed pointed out.

The RLD leader added that the BJP leaders’ concern for nationalism was a farce and was aimed at gaining votes in the Lok Sabha elections. “But the public has become wise after the poor experience of BJP’s misrule. They will unseat the party in the elections,” he said.

Explaining the winning arithmetic, Masood said that the alliance demolished the safest and strongest turf of the BJP in the last four byelections in UP. “In this Lok Sabha elections, the grand alliance has become stronger after the BJP’s failure was exposed. We are sure to defeat BJP in this general elections,” Masood hoped.
