RlD stages protest against state govt

The Rashtriya lok Dal (RlD) staged an agitation against Akhilesh Yadav Government demanding early payment of cane dues, improvement of power scenario and deterioration in law and order situation in the state.

“The state government has failed to deliver and the farmer is the worst sufferer. It is unfortunate that despite Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav declaring that his government will clear farmers’ dues, the cane arrear is mounting. The worst part is that power scenario is very bad and law and order has gone from bad to worse,” RlD state president Munna Singh Chauhan said while addressing party workers at GPO park here on Thursday.

He said that the Government claims it is celebrating “Kisan Varsh” this year. What kind of celebration is this where the farmer is the worst sufferer. This government is hand in glove with the sugar mill owners and is harassing the farmers, Chauhan said adding that many farmers have committed suicide because of non-payment of cane dues.

Chauhan also questioned appointment of teachers and said that people of particular caste and loyalty are given preference over others for obvious reasons. “This should end. A CBI probe should be ordered in this case,” he said.
