RlD demands probe into irregularities at paddy purchase centres

Published on:

Rastriya lok Dal demanded a high level enquiry into large scale irregularities committed in paddy purchase centers in the State.

The Party also announced a state-wide demonstration at all the district head-quarters to raise various demands of the farmers, besides they will also hold rallies in Agra and Moradabad to put pressure on the state government to fulfill those demands. Making the above call here on Saturday afternoon, state president of RlD Munna Singh Chauhan, while addressing media persons claimed that government should form a high level committee to probe that whose crops were purchased at respective paddy purchase centres in the state as common farmers were forced to dispose of their yield at much cheaper price than announced by government just as the incharges refused to procure the crop.

Chauhan said that besides irregularities in paddy crop purchase, the same situation is also in procurement of sugarcane crop as most of the mills owners were not giving the price announced by the government. He claimed that the cane growers were forced to sell their produce at Rs 200 to Rs 225 a quintal when they should at least get Rs 280 for it. He said that the mill owners were also cheating the farmers by making irregularities in weighing. He said the mill owners were also not clearing the arrears of the farmers even when they get money from the Centre so State government must intervened to ensure that they would get their money along with interest due on it.

RlD State president said that to press their above demands, RlD workers would stage a demonstration at all the district head quarters on January 13. He said that they will hand over a memorandum addressed to governor in which they will ask Bl Joshi to direct the state government to meet out all the requirement of the farmers.

Meanwhile replying to a question that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had refused to take big accommodation, Munna Singh Chauhan said that such claims are just for publicity as even many of RlD ministers were living in small houses meant to accomadate MPs. He said that even RlD MP Jayant Chowdhary was not having any security but these are personal issues and should not be unnecessary highlighted. On State government’s move of withdrawing cases regarding riots in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli against members of one community, Munna Singh Chauhan said that criminals and anti-social elements were having no religion or caste so whosoever would be find guilty of involving in anti-national activities, he should be dealt with tough hands.
