The Rashtriya lok Dal has demanded a ban on advertisements of cine star and BJP leader Hema Malini of a water purifier saying that it amounts to the violation of model code of conduct.

In a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer RlD national secretary Anil Dubey said that TV channels are showing advertisements of a water purifier that is being endorsed by Hema Malini. The same advertisement is being carried out by various newspapers and news magazines. This is violation of model code of conduct and should be stopped immediately, Dubey said in his representation here on Monday.

Hema Malini is BJP candidate from Mathura, the constituency represented by Jayant Chaudhry, son of RlD Chief Ajit Singh.

"The Election Commission should act immediately and stop those advertisements and if it is not possible the costs of advertisements should be added to the candidate’s expenses," Dubey said in a statement.

Meanwhile, RlD issued a list of its star campaigners for the lok Sabha elections. Besides Ajit Singh and his son Jayant Chaudhry new entrant into the party Amar Singh and cine star Jaya Prada are among the list of star campaigners. Other includes party state president Munna Singh Chauhan, Kokab Hamid and Anil Dubey.

"These star campaigners would be given the responsibility to travel across the state and campaign in favour of party candidates," state president Munna Singh Chauhan said.
