A delegation of Rashtriya Lok Dal on Saturday met the farmers agitating on the Ghazipur border of Uttar Pradesh.
RLD national spokesperson Anupam Mishra, while giving information, said that the Lok Sankalp Committee established a dialogue with the farmers on Saturday to prepare the draft of the party’s manifesto (Lok Sankalp-2022) for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
“There is a deep disappointment among the farmers due to the black agricultural laws brought by the Central government and on not getting fair prices for the crops. On the other hand, there has been no hike in the state advisory price of sugarcane for the past four years in Uttar Pradesh while diesel, electricity and fertilisers prices are touching sky. The farmers of Uttar Pradesh are very sad and angry due to the huge increase in the prices of farming inputs,” he said.
Mishra said the members of Lok Sankalp Samiti had extensive discussions with the farmers on various issues related to farming.
“The agitating farmers were assured by the members of Lok Sankalp Committee constituted by RLD national president Jayant Chaudhary that the party was with the farmers’ movement and the new government of Uttar Pradesh, which would be formed with the participation of Rashtriya Lok Dal, would take every step to save the farmers,” he said.
President of Lok Sankalp Committee, Dr. Yashveer Singh, said that the manifesto of Rashtriya Lok Dal would be prepared after taking opinion from different sections. He said villagers, farmers, workers, youth and women's uplift would be the focal point of the RLD manifesto.
