Rashtriya Lok Dal national spokesman Anil Dubey filed a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, L Venkateshwarlu on Saturday, alleging that Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Mathura, Hema Malini, was violating the model code of conduct during her poll campaign.
In his complaint, Dubey stated that Hema Malini was declared BJP candidate from Mathura a few days back.
“Even after announcement of her name as BJP Lok Sabha candidate, the actor is advertising in newspapers and electronic news channels for a popular brand of water purifier and appealing to people to use it. This is a clear violation of the model code of conduct,” Dubey charged.
The RLD spokesman demanded that the advertisement be banned till completion of Lok Sabha elections and the expense on the advertisement be add to Hema Malini’s account for poll campaign.
Dubey claimed in a press release that the CEO assured him of proper action after going through the complaint.
