In another setback to former cabinet minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan, the Rampur police, on Saturday, managed to arrest his close confidant Aale Hasan Khan, posted as deputy superintendent of police in the district for several years.

Hasan Khan, once the right hand man of Azam Khan, has been arrested by the police and presented in the court. He was absconding for the last several days and the police had launched a hunt for him. He is also a co-accused along with Azam Khan in many cases, including a land-grabbing case.

Hasan Khan once enjoyed full power during his tenure as deputy superintendent of police in Rampur because of his close proximity to Azam Khan. After retiring as circle officer (city), Hasan Khan was posted as chief security officer at Azam Khan's Jauhar University.

CO (City) Anuj Chaudhary said that there was a non-bailable warrant against Aale Hasan Khan but he was not appearing in the court and was absconding for the last several days. He was finally arrested by the Azim Nagar police and produced in the designated court. A heavy police force was deployed in the court by the senior officers while producing Aale Hasan Khan in the court. Aale Hasan Khan was arrested by the Azim Nagar police as he was wanted in two cases.

Talking to media persons, Aale Hasan Khan said he had no grudge with the police as they were just like his family members. Claiming himself to be a disciplined person, Hasan Khan claimed that he was not aware that a non-bailable warrant was issued in his name two-three days back by the court.

He claimed that if the cops had informed him, he would have surrendered as he had full faith in the judiciary and would soon come out clean of all charges which were leveled against him due to his closeness with Azam Khan.
