Describing `Sambhav’ as a revolutionary scheme to resolve the problems of the consumers, Energy Minister AK Sharma said resolution of people’s problems in such a large number in a short time pointed to good governance.
He was talking to reporters after reviewing the 'Sambhav' scheme on Thursday. During the review, he monitored the public hearings held so far at the levels of executive engineer, superintending engineer and managing director and resolved complaints on the spot by having virtual dialogue with the consumers.
Sharma instructed the managing directors of all the discoms to take strict action against officers who were lax in handling the works and complaints.
Sharma said that so far 5,982 complaints had been received in public hearings held at district, circle and discom levels, out of which 4,987 complaints had been resolved on the spot and the remaining 1,000 complaints are under process for disposal.
“The resolution of such a large number of complaints at the local level represents a revolutionary step and will pave the way for good governance in the department,” Sharma said.
Expressing concern over tripping, erratic supply of electricity and burning of transformers in the state, the energy minister said that it was mandatory that electricity was supplied to the consumers as per the schedule.
“People should get electricity at a fixed time so that they do not face any problem. It should be ensured that a fixed time of shutdown is between 9 am and 10 am and between 5 pm to 6 pm. Special attention should be paid to preventive maintenance, so that equipment can be protected from damage,” he said.
Energy Minister AK Sharma himself heard complaints of consumers during the virtual meeting with them at 'Sambhav' portal.
