Reiterating its demand of resignations of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Health minister Siddharthnath Singh for the tragic death of 70 children at BRD College (Gorakhpur), the UP Congress on Friday said that the report submitted by Chief Secretary was an effort to cover up lapses of the government and its official.
“The government has been stressing that the ill-fated children did not die due to lack of oxygen then why has it filed an FIR against oxygen supplying firm Pushpa Sales for culpabl homicide (section 304 IPC) and conspiracy (120(B) IPC) IJ The contradictory stand of the government indicates that there is something fishy,” allegedcharged legislature Party leader Ajay Kumar lallu.
Talking to mediapersons in lucknow on Friday, lallu blamed Adityanath and the Health minister for the children’s death and alleged that now the government was trying to save their skins through a got-up probe report.
The Congress leader questioned that when Health minister himself informed about a probe into irregularities at BRD Medical College hospital in the legislative Council on July 10, then why did it take more than a month to act against the errants.
“All documents and statements of doctors working at the hospital disclosed before the media and the probe team that the children died due to lack of oxygen. Yet, it did not find a mention in the report clearly pointing that the government was trying to save politicians and some top officials,” said the Congress leader.
lalu further pointed out that the way the FIRs were registered against the accused secretively only go on to show that the government was on the backfoot and saving the real culprits.
