Ready to cooperate with UP's BJP govt on development : Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said that his party was ready to cooperate with the Uttar Pradesh government during the two-day Investors’ summit because his party was committed for the issue of development of the state.

“We are not averse of development of the state and ready to cooperate with the BJP government. But first they will have to clarify that they should not play politics on the name of development,” Yadav told reporters here on Sunday.

He however did not clarify whether he will participate in the meet though he admitted that he has received invitation for the function slated to be held on February 21 and 22.

“We have done a lot in the development sector. The Agra-lucknow expressway is a milestone which is being en-cashed by the BJP. We are not against promotion of our Expressway by BJP Government but they should have given some credit to us also for constructing such a good expressway,” he said.

Attacking the BJP government over the PNB fraud, he said after making people cashless through demonetization now the bank scam has turned the banks cashless.

The SP president said that people are still facing the brunt of faulty economic policies of the BJP Governments. Even after five budgets of the Central government and two by the UP government problems of people still exist.

He also attacked BJP for their failure to fulfill the promises they had made. “What happened about the laptop promised by the BJP to the students of UP during 2017 elections,” he said adding: “PM promised that money from the country will not go out. Instead he will bring black money that has gone out of India. But he even failed to fulfill those promises.”

He said during 2017 assembly polls, BJP only targeted the SP on caste lines and even termed it as a party which only promoted Yadav. Do I built a separate Yadav lane on the lucknow-Agra expressway or gave laptops and Kanya Vidhya dhan to Yadavs only,” he questioned.

Making a critical remark on the state police and government machinery over the gunning down of a leopard in lucknow on Saturday, Yadav cracked joke saying UP police believed that the leopard was carrying a firearm and thus was killed.

“This is a total failure of the government machinery as a stray animal was killed by when it should have been captured,” he said.
