Vishwa Hindu Parishad said the over month-long campaign since January 15 for mobilising donations for the Ram temple at Ayodhya had unified the country from east to west and north to south.

VHP vice-president and general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra (Trust) Champat Rai said here on Saturday that even after the campaign the devotees, who missed this samarpan (contribution) drive, could still make their contributions to the account of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra through the website, viz., https://srjbtkshetra.org/donation-options/.

"We have succeeded in achieving our goal of samarpan in four lakh villages. Contact was also made in all the wards of urban areas. Although the statistics of the families contacted are yet to be compiled, it is estimated that we have liaised with about 10 crore families and samarpan (contributions) have been received from people from every walk of life.

He said during the campaign there were many occasions and incidents which moved the hearts of the volunteers. At many places, while even beggars made their contributions, the daily wagers and small farmers also made their prayerful offerings. The samarpan of the Ram bhakt Muslim society is also significant. Devotees from outside Bharat are requested to wait a little more. They will be notified upon completion of FCRA formalities," Rai said.

He said that in this huge campaign, about nine lakh karyakartas in 1,75,000 teams contacted people from door-to-door. He said to maintain transparency of the entire campaign, while 49 control rooms were working across the country, 23 qualified karyakartas led by two chartered accountants at the main centre in Delhi, were constantly in touch with the entire network to monitor the accounts.

The app created by Dhanusha Infotech Company of Hyderabad did a commendable job as a meticulously-built digital network to act as a digital bridge among the karyakartas, banks and the trust.

Rai said that even as the final figures were yet to come, it could be said, based on the banks' receipts till February 4, that the samarpan amount would cross Rs 2,500 crore. He said this month, an audit of the campaign in every district of the country would also be completed.

Ram devotees in every nook and corner of the country have made their contributions. From the North Eastern region of Bharat, the people of Arunachal Pradesh have contributed Rs 4.5 crore, from Manipur Rs 2 crore, Mizoram Rs 20.1 lakh , Nagaland Rs 20.8 lakh, Meghalaya  Rs 80.5 lakh, and from southern states, the people of Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 85 crore  and from Kerala Rs 13 crore.

On the work going on at the Janmabhoomi site, Champat Rai said that almost 60 per cent of the foundation digging and earth removal works were completed and it was expected that the foundation filling work would start in the first week of April 2021.
