Ram Temple construction to take time:Katiyar

With VHP and BJP leaders clarifying that Ram Mandir issue would be resolved through the Court order, Rajya Sabha member Vinay Katiyar advocated the calling of Joint session of the Parliament that could pass a Bill for construction of the temple at Ram Janmabhoomi at Ayodhya.

“Come what may, a grand Ram temple will be built in Ayodhya. It will be built either through Court order or through a law passed by Parliament,” he told reporters in lucknow on Friday.

“We don’t have a majority in Rajya  Sabha or else such a Bill for Ram temple would have been brought by now. Still we can do this through a joint session of both Houses,” Katiyar said while claiming that Ram temple already exists at the disputed site. “Ram Mandir tha, hai  aur rahega,” he said.

The former Bajrang Dal chief said that there is no harm in carrying out preparatory work. “Carving of stones for temple is underway since 1990. Arrival of new pillars or stones is not a big deal. We are now on a preparatory mode and need five years to complete  construction,” he said.

On the other hand, VHP members are now underplaying the recent development of stones arriving in truckloads at Ayodhya. “Around 1 lakh cubic feet of stone has been carved. The media unnecessarily give it a hype when this work is going on or over a decade,” said VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma.

Meanwhile, Indian Muslim league state chief, Najmul Hasan Gani said that the entire issue was politically motivated and it was being raked up keeping the UP polls in mind.

“It is unfortunate the when the matter is in the Supreme Court and Muslims have promised that they will accept the Court decision, then why is the VHP and others frontal organisations are in so much of a hurry,” he questioned.

Gani said that raising the Ram Temple issue will certainly create communal disturbance. “leaders of all hues are relishing this issue because no political party is really interested in the welfare of the people,” he said.
